Thumbnail Grid (imaginary)
The thumbnail grid fills with thumbnails as new thumbnails are created. Each thumbnail is positioned in the next available (unoccupied) grid cell.
When a thumbnail is restored it free's the cell it used to occupy, and the next thumbnail will position itself in the first available cell within the grid.
When a thumbnail is manually moved out of it's imaginary cell, the cell becomes available for new thumbnails. A thumbnail can also be moved back onto the grid by positioning it within the cell it should occupy.
