Actions
The Actions panel has two tabs: Actions and Action Options. The Actions tab associates global shortcuts and per-action sounds with each action. The Action Options tab configures animation and sound timing options. Press Reset Actions... to restore factory action rules.
WindowMizer can perform the following Actions on the focused window:
- Reduce to Title Bar
Reduces a window to the height of the title bar. Often called window-shading.
- Reduce to Thumbnail
Creates a mini window aligned to the thumbnail grid.
- Minimize to Dock
Sends the window to the Dock without leaving a placeholder.
- Toggle Full Screen
Enters or exits Full Screen via Accessibility. Does not create a placeholder.
Action list columns
- Enable
Turns the action on or off.
- Action
The name of the Action.
- Shortcut
Global shortcut for that action. Active when the action is enabled and a combo-key is set. Clear the recorder to remove the shortcut.
- Sound Minimize / Sound Restore
Summary of configured sounds for the action.
Action Triggers
Each enabled action can be started in either or both of these ways:
- Global Shortcut
A global shortcut to trigger the selected action. When the recorder shows Record Shortcut, no global shortcut is set and that action will not run from the keyboard. Clear the recorder (or leave it empty) to keep the action available from title-bar double-click only.
- Title-bar double-click
Double-click the window title bar, optionally with modifier keys (Command, Option, Control, Shift). An action with no modifiers assigned is the default action for a plain title-bar double-click.
If two enabled actions share the same modifiers, only one runs.
Action Sounds
Sound controls on this panel configure action sounds (reduce, restore, and related gestures). Desktop Icon Hider has its own sound control on the Icon Hider panel.
- Play Sound Effects
Master on/off for action sounds on this panel. When unchecked, reduce and restore sounds do not play during window-shading, and the Minimize, Restore, and sound pop-up controls for the selected action are disabled. Per-action Minimize and Restore checkboxes apply only when this is on.
- Volume slider
Sets volume for action sounds when Play Sound Effects is on.
- Minimize
Sound pop-up and enable checkbox for the reduce/minimize half of the selected action.
- Restore
Sound pop-up and enable checkbox for the restore half of the selected action.
Sound pop-up previews in Settings always play while you are choosing a sound, even when Play Sound Effects is off.
Restore sound controls are disabled for Minimize to Dock. Both sound controls are disabled for Toggle Full Screen.
Action Options tab — Animation Options
This option applies only to Reduce to Title Bar. When checked (factory default), WindowMizer shows Screen Capture Kit overlay windows to hide the system minimize and restore genie. When unchecked, overlay windows are not used and the normal system animations play.
Reduce to Thumbnail always hides system minimize and restore animations when Screen Capture Kit is available.
- Hide System animation for Reduce to Title Bar action
When checked (factory default), Screen Capture Kit overlay windows hide the OS genie animation on reduce and restore from a title bar strip. When unchecked, the normal system minimize and restore animations play — useful if multi-display overlay capture causes a brief freeze or black flash, without disabling Screen Capture Kit entirely.
Minimize to Dock and Toggle Full Screen are not affected by these options.
Action Options tab — Sound Options
- Include User Sounds in Action Sounds lists
Adds sounds from ~/Library/Sounds to Actions sound pop-up menus on the Actions tab.
- Include System Sounds in Action Sounds lists
Adds system sound folders to Actions sound pop-up menus on the Actions tab.
- Sound delay after animation (reduce)
Delay before reduce sounds play. Adjust only if the animation is not aligned with the sound effect.
- Sound delay after animation (restore)
Delay before restore sounds play after a restore animation completes.
- Reset sound delay's
Resets the reduce and restore sound delay steppers to shipped defaults.
